Best: When I worked for Hammacher Schlemmer and was able to negotiate
between the Comapany and Arnold Schwarzenegger's people for his movie "The
Sixth Day" to recieve a discount. I have also worked with Dom Deleuse to
return a broken item and I have placed an order for Kenny Rogers.
Worst: I had a customer at the same company tell me that no where in the
directions for our helium inflated blimp ballon did it say that it shouldn't
have been taken outside. He was very rude with me and I was commended for
our well I was able to handle the situation.
Candidates qualities:
I know first hand what it takes to be in customer service and I won't be
easy on those that I critique.

At a local area eatery our reservations were "misplaced" and we were left
without a table. The server for the table we reserved immediately let the
manager on duty know and she offered to buy us our first round of drinks at
the bar while they prepare a table for us. When we were seated our server
came over to take our order and after 10-15 minutes our salads were still
not even prepared, so the chef sent out a very small but appreciated
appetizer. Following was a fabulous meal and dessert (which they also
offered to pay for, but we declined). We were thrilled at our experience
because instead of pushing blame on each other or trying to downplay the
situation they came together as a team to show shining customer service and
treated us as if we were the only customers in the place! We have been going
there once a week for the past 6 months!!
Candidates qualities:
I am a 27 year old married female with a stepson age 8. We have one dog and
one cat and we are a middle class working family. When we go out we expect
to be treated respectfully and we are firm believers in the saying "you get
what you pay for". I believe that every customer is entitled to the same
service regardless of the cost of their purchase and it seems that customer
service on all ends of the spectrum is lacking these days. At my company I
train our customer service representitives to treat every customer like they
are a VIP and I feel that the most common courtesies are too often ignored.
Mystery shopping is just another way I can contribute to upgrading the
customer service department at another company!

it was at a store in ohio . i enter lowe's store in columbus i touble
finding something i ask ths lady if she could help me. the lady wasn't to
nice she said sir you're just going to have to wait one dam minute . i'm
only one person.i can only handle one of you at a time. i said i will just
go ask someone elsefor the help thank you.will i was going to find some
else i pass 6 worker and ask them to show me where the locks were. The
worker didn't take me where to the item and show me where it was he just
said its in row 8 i did n't where it was so i had to find someone else to
help me .By now i have been in the store for 2 hours by now i'm ready to

Best experience was when I bought my first computer and had to return it.
The return staff were very helpful and and explanined the problem with the
computer. They offered me a choice of getting this one fixed or excahnging
the computer for another one.

During one of my best customer service experiences, I was greeted
immediately upon entering the location. The sales associate was upbeat,
personable and she greeted me with a smile. I asked for assistence and she
was able to asking me several questions that helped determine exactly what I
was looking for. She was able to show me several options and make a
recommendation to fit my needs.

I had an excellent customer service experience at Lazarus back in July. My
grandmother had just passed away and I was looking for a nice red dress to
bury her in and the lady (who was not even working in that department took
me to just about every red dress in the store that would fit my budget, she
rang my sale out for me which she did not have to and she also found a sales
ad and got me a 10% off coupon to use. In my book, that was great customer
service.

I worked in retail for 8 years and know what to expect as a mystery shopper,
I know good customer service is a vital part in retail. I would hope
managers would like to know if their employees are doing what is to be
expected of them. I feel that having so many years experience in retail that

Cannot remember the name of the company. It has been several years back and
I only had 4 assignments with them.
Best/Worst Customer Service:
Waiting in line to pay for gas when I was in a hurry since I was on my way
to work. The couple in front of me had more than 1 transaction and the
young man waiting on them didn't seem to know exactly what he was doing so
he took forever to finish with them. That's the only one I can think of
right now.
Candidates qualities:
As a customer I don't like being ignored; enjoy prompt and good service.
It's always pleasant also when the person waiting on me is friendly and
really seems to care about what they are doing. As a person that waits on
the public myself I always greet the person in a friendly manner, wait on
them as quickly as I can and go out of my way to help them in any way I

I recently worked for a marketing company in an area hotel using one of
their meeting rooms. I was very impressed by the helpfulness of all the
staff I came into contact. The staff actually appeared to be enjoying the
work they were doing. The staff went beyond the expectations of
helpfulness. This staff was made up of all age employess and different
nationalities.

As a retired high school teacher I developed excellent people skills and a
very keen power of observation. I am able to assess situations with a broad
outlook. I enjoy communicating with people no matter the situation. In
addition I am a dependable, trustworthy individual. For the last two years
I have evaluated first year teachers for the state of Ohio. This requires
travel around the Cincinnati area, evaluation appointments and extensive

My worst customer service experience consists of an afternoon of attempting
to shop at one of my favorite retail chains. After not being 'recognized'
by at least one of the three workers that huddled the clearance table in
search of their own 'bargins', i was not only spoken to with such a harsh
tone but also had to debate the validity of a 50% off bonus certificate for
merchandise that I had planned to purchase. The representative that rang my
items was also preoccupied with her own agenda of promptly finishing with me
as quickly as possible so that she wouldn't be late in leaving to go to
lunch with her co-workers that were noticably awaiting her presence.
Therefore,.. the 'sale' was rushed. I was not asked whether or not I would
be using the 'company's charge card' (in which, if I had I would have saved
an extra 10% that day) nor was I asked if I have found everything in which I
was searching. I was given a given a "microwave closing" of "Thanks have a
good one." There was no attempt of reaching out

as a retail worker as well as a VERY patient yet detailed-oriented

I went into a child's clothing store in the mall, and I stood there for 15
minutes and waited to be helped. Then I waited 20 minutes at the check out
counter, while the girl stood at the back door and smoked her ciggerett.

My best experience was when I went to a computer store to buy parts to build
my computer. My husband and I were on a tight budget, but we wanted a good
computer that would do what we wanted it to accomplish for us. The salesman
was very polite and was trying to help us decide on brands and such. Then he
remembered that there was a sale going on for a motherboard and processor
together in a pack for cheaper than any of the motherboards alone. Once we
got everything together, we were checking out and realized that we didn't
get a tower and had no money left over. The salesman generously went to the
back of the store and brought back a tower that had a good powersupply to
it. He told us that he was going to give it to us because we had spent so
much time there being so meticulous with how much we were spending. He was
very sweet. We even returned several times that week with compatibility
problems and he exchanged things for no extra charge. Out of every
experience that I have had with retail and even restauran

The best experience in customer service happened while shopping at a children's clothing store. Upon check-out, the associate informed me if I retured the following day with me receipt, I would be getting a refund as many of the items I was purchasing were to be on sale.

I took some boxes to be shipped. The lady at the counter was not very helpful ie; did not offer any information or advice nor any suggestions. The boxes were to be shipped ground and charged to the recipient's account #. The clerks statement to me was they had to go air. They didn't ship ground from there. I was surprised by the answer and asked why. She said they just didn't since I wasn't paying .I said ok and filled out the necessary info. I called the recipient when I got home to advise them of the change in delivery manner. They were upset as the pkgs were well over 150#s. I was told to go p/u the pkgs. and we'd do it another way. They then called the store where the pkgs. were left and advised them that I was coming to p/u the pkgs. The clerk said they were in the system already and she didn't know how to get them out.They were still in the store. She was told to figure it out. I arrived and she was so rude. Hollering at me, telling me it was all my fault. I explained that she might have made a suggestion as to how I could get them shipped ground or at least explain why "they" couldn't ship ground.
There was 1 other customer in the store,talking to the other clerk, and he asked the clerk helping me to please "keep it down" as he couldn't hear the other clerk. When he left, the clerk helping me said to me "There,you got a paying customer upset. I hope you're happy!!!!" I was simply astonished at how rude this lady really was. WOW'''''

My best customer service experience was helping a parent with their 11 month old baby in which they had severe exzema, the products that I sell have a pharmaceutical grade of tea tree oil in the lotion which in 1 week you could start to see the healing process with just one application per day. The little girl who is now 1 yrs. old is completely healed of their exzema.

The worst experience was at a car company where we were looking for a car and a truck and the salesman
completely ignored me and what the family needed in a family car for the family and just talked to
my husband and showed him some trucks and then left and did not show me any cars. And I was the
actual buyer for both the car and truck and because of his "I sell to the man" lost both sales and
a large commission. Because he had no time for a woman and even no curtesy to me he lost out and I imformed his manager of his slipshod ways.

As a mother of 6 children with 2 still home and have 8 grandchildren I need to do a lot of shopping for a variety of age groups and I understand the young customer as well as the older customer because of my age. We have a variety of pets so we also know what the average pet needs. I have to shop a variety of stores from auto stores, department stores, to grocery stores. As a person that has worked with the public I understand what constitutes good customer service. My children have worked as food service workers, department store workers, and Hotel managers and I know what they require as good service and they were frequently graded by mystery shoppers. The customer must be regarded with respect and given good service as well as the product must be something the custmer can rely on. We also travel so we see the differences in how some areas tend to give better customer service. My opinions would be fair and honest and fill the needs of the company I would be working for. I was shopping for new bras & had been to 2 other Major department stores before trying Victoria Secret. I knew they were more expensive than the other department stores but I couldn't get any help in either of the 1st stores. I was greeted at the door & after about 5 minutes of shopping on my own the lady came back & asked if I was doing ok! I asked some questions, she fitted me for a bra & then helped me pick out 2 that fit great! It was worth every penny I spent!!

My best and worst customer service experience was at the Renaissance Hotel in downtown cleveland. My husband and I were staying there the night of our wedding, and were planning on relaxing and sleeping in. Before the stay, I had arranged for there to be chocolate strawberries, champagne, and seltzer water (because my husband does not drink) in the room upon arrival. Instead, there was a 35 minute wait after our already late arrival at 12:30AM. Further, we were given a wrong room which had two double beds, and which was impossibly hot with little control over the temperature. We were so tired we had no energy to gripe, but by 7 am the next morning when an emergency/fire alarm kept on going on and off, I was wide awake and quite the angry bride. After such a terrible wedding night/waking up, the woman at the front desk not only managed to placate me, but also conpensate us for the inconvience. We just wanted to leave, and she understood that. Within five minutes, our room charge was dropped to the lowest rate (a huge difference!), apologies were given, and our car was brought around front and waiting for us. Most importantly, I truly felt that they handled the situation in the best possible manner, and I left thinking that perhaps we would return again.

My worst customer experience occured when i was traveling on Christmas Day to Canada. First, my first flight was delayed, making me miss my second flight. Finally I managed to catch a flight to Vancouver (my final destination) and when I arrived, the airline had lost my luggage and the rental car company had closed and not left any keys available at my disposal. I was left withouth luggage and without transportation on Christmas Day.

My worst was a time my husband & I went out to dinner at a TGI Friday's. First we waited twenty minutes for the waitress to take our order, then another waitress brought me the wrong order, finally when she took our bill, she passed our bank card to three other waitresses before we got the check back.
My best was a dinner at the Olive Garden Restaraunt. The young man who waited on us was very polite & visited our table frequently. At the end of the dinner, we almost forgot my son's left-over box. He ran after us and gave us the box in the parking lot. That really left a wonderful impression on me.

One incident that sticks in my mind is when I was a service desk clerk at Gold Circle and a customer insisted the jeans he bought came from our store even though a Sears tag was attached. It was a comical situation but not at the time.
I have had many experiences as a social worker, coming into contact with all sorts of people. One of my worst times was being threatened by someone while they were on PCP.

I experience good and bad customer service every day. Customer service comes down to two things> 1: Management supporting the staff with a good atmosphere, proper training, good leadership and having set the proper expectations to the staff so they understand how to service and/or please the customer. 2: The staff having the proper attitude and understanding of how their service can make a difference in the customer satisfaction which will have a direct impact on the customer returning for future business.

I have spent more than 17 years in the computer industry directly interfacing with and servicing customers. It has always been extremely important to service the customer as much or more than any product. The worst customer service I have ever recieved occured while I was attempting to contact a hardware store for advise on the proper mider saw blade. I was told that if I didn't know what blade to use then I should stop trying to be a "Mr. Fix-it" and hire someone to do it for me.

I WENT TO DENNY'S ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO IN HUBER HEIGHTS OHIO. WHEN WE FISRT ARRIVED NO ONE GREETED US AND WE WAITED TO FET A SEAT FOR TEN MINUTES. OUR WAITRESS WAS GIVING US THE COLD SHOULDER THEN AFTER ANOTHER TEN MINITES SHE FINALLY CAME AND TOOK OUR DRINK ORDERS. SHE SEEMED VERY UPSET WHEN WE TOLD HER THAT WE WERE READY TO ORDER OUR FOOD. ABOUT THIRTY MINITES LATER WE RESEAVED OUR FOOD BUT HAD NOT EVEN RECIEVED OUR DRINKS. NEEDLESS TO SAY WE WERE VERY UPSET. WE ASKE D TO SPEAK TO THE MANAGER AND NO ONE COULD SEEM TO FIND ONE. i DECIDED THAT WE WOULD JUST LEAVE AND WE CONTACTED THE CORPORATE OFFICE.

Best/Worst Customer Service
WORST - Went out to dinner with my family. I have a 4 & 2 year old. We were NEVER waited on. Kids started crying. We were getting upset. We had to leave. My kids got scared. They were so excited to eat there too.
BEST - Purchasing a car recently. Our sales person was VERY respectful too us and our financial situation regarding our budget. Was not upset with us when we decided to purchase somewhere else though. Very educational experience.
